It took me awhile to get the last achievement for this game so I decided to do a little video to commemorate it. Kingdoms and Castles: Kingdom of the Gods. Building a Medieval EMPIRE.
Kingdom Rush - A Guide to Unlocking AchievementsWe all know and love Kingdom Rush, and you have no idea what kind of game this is, then you are definitely missing out. Kingdom Rush is an immensely enjoyable tower defense game that brings you back to the typical swords and magic world of medieval fantasy. And along with this ever so familiar setting comes a smorgasbord of characters that depict stereotypes and archetypes of the mythos -each performing exactly as you would expect. All these elements come presented in a neat little package of visually splendid and smoothly animated sprites, which in turn, gives life to the game world. This tower defense game is played on a per-stage basis. Each stage has a set number of waves and on some occasions, special objects on the field that could work to your advantage or will provide you with an even tougher challenge. Aside from the regular mission stages, players can also take part in aspecial challenge maps with set limitations and special waves that have to be fended off under unique circumstances. As from the game's innate challenge and the fact that you have so much upgrades to choose from, there is another element that completionist players can go for: achievements.
While achievements do not add anything significantly helpful to your game, it is very satisfying to complete them all. And here is a quick list of all the achievements in the game as well as some of our best tips for obtaining them. Setting Up Your GameThere are a variety of achievements in this game. Some are easy some are hard. The easiest ones do not need your attention at all.
Some will require you to intentionally go out of your way. We recommend that any effort to achieve the more specific achievements be done as an intentional attempt -not something you will try to do while trying to earn a full star rank on a stage. This is because some of the challenges will force you to allocate your resources on specific units or towers which may be detrimental to your stage strategy. The best thing to do is to go after the more difficult achievements once you have already finished a stage and are simply going back to earn the award. Regardless of whether you win the stage or not, once you earn the achievement, it stays in your save file.
Straight Forward AchievementsHere, we list down all the achievements that you are likely to acquire in the middle of your game. Basically, if you finish the game even once, you are almost certain to obtain these achievements short of intentionally trying to avoid them (and in the case of some, they are completely unavoidable).First Blood - kill a single enemy, get this trophy; impossible not to get.Constructor - still missable, but really, it is pretty challenging to actually finish this game without building more than 30 towers.Starry - since you earn a star for each stage you finish, and it is likely that you will earn a three star rank early on and maybe several 2 star rankings. Anyway, this one unlocks after you get 15 stars. What's That? - opening 10 unit information cards is easy, as long as you encounter a new enemy, the info card will pop out. Since you will encounter more than 10 of them throughout, it will be impossible to not earn this.Nuts and Bolts, Is He Dead Yeti?, and This is the End! - These three will earn as you defeat: The Juggernaut, J.T., and Vez'nan.
These three guys are the bosses of the game and they will be encountered in the story mode. You cannot finish the mission they appear in unless they are defeated -this means that you will get all three as long as you finish the game.Great Defender - since the default and lowest difficulty of the game is on normal, finishing the game once earns you this achievement. Cumulative Achievements - WavesThese are achievements gained when you do something -like a task or a feat, several times. They are not that hard, but you do have to do some of them intentionally in order to pull them off. A bit of stage planning helps as well for some of these. In this section, we specifically focus on summoning waves -which means having to face the next wave earlier that you normally would.Impatient - the moment a 'next wave' icon appears, click it within 3 seconds.
Simple and easy, just summon a wave as soon as you can and you are done. Though you might want to follow it up with:Daring - to get this, simply call 10 waves early.
This may screw up your strategy a bit, but as long as your towers are properly set up, you can handle it. And if your defenses are truly something that you are confident about, they you may want to consider going for:Fearless - in a single mission, call all waves early.
This can be tough if your are slow in building towers and defenses. And you can miss it if you fail to click on the summon wave icon once. Keep your focus, stay on an easy stage and play it safe when going for this one.
And also, if you are doing the Fearless achievement, you will naturally get the Daring achievement as well. Cumulative Achievements - EnemiesDisposing of enemies will be your number one priority -after all, the whole point of a tower defense game is to stop all of them. That being said, just killing every enemy you see will not earn you all the much needed requirements for some of these achievements.
You need to actually know what you are doing to earn them.Bloodlust, Slayer, and TerminatorAll these three trophies mean one thing: accumulated kills. Terminator is the highest requirement with 10,000 kills -which means that you earn Bloodlust and Slayer pretty early on.
The only way to get terminator is to keep on playing constantly well beyond the regular campaign mode (bloodlust is easily attainable enough during your first run through at 500 kills, slayer requires 2,500 -which is not that hard either).Death From Above - Kill 100 enemies with the meteor shower; this spell is very useful when it comes to dealing lots of damage to huge crowds. And in the case of some very low health enemies, a powered up version of the spell will mean instant death. Reaching a hundred kills with this one should be pretty easy to achieve in the span of a single run-through since using the meteor spell is an important strategic advantage that you should not miss out on.50 SHOTS 50 KILLS - Snipe turning your rangers into snipers is a big gamble -particularly when hitting faster can prove to be a lot more advantageous to hitting harder (in terms of conventional tower defense wisdom that is). But along with the tradeoff comes a really nifty ability -this special shot is always an instant kill. Gun-armed upgraded ranger towers will automatically use this ability once it is available, so have a couple of so of these in a single stage and you can expect to rack up the 50 kills needed for the achievement in no time at all.Toxicity - using poison damage on an enemy to kill it may take a bit of an effort -after all, the poison damage could whittle down plenty of health only for the kill to be taken by another tower. Your best bet is to finish off those low health minion enemies quick -and that means having your ranger towers close to the enemy spawn point where you can make those 50 kills easier.Dust to Dust - fully upgraded mage towers sure pack some punch.
And when it comes to delivering some serious damage, their massive energy beams are the best thing you have in your arsenal. This achievement requires you to get 50 kills -which is not going to be a problem at all since you will find yourself relying on these towers as the enemy hordes grow stronger and larger. Are You Not Entertained? - once armed with upgraded stats and the ability to use trapping nets on flying enemies, barbarians can be a real force to be reckoned with. The issue with this achievement is not how strong a barbarian is, but how fast a single one can kill. To get this achievement, you must earn 10 kills on a single barbarian -which sounds easy enough, except for the fact that you would have three of them there at the same time and a few towers providing support fire. You can definitely earn this trophy by replaying stages over and over until one of the three accumulate enough kills, but you may also consider placing the trio well away from other towers.AC/DC - tesla towers are fun, they are big, steampunk-ish, easy to build, and most importantly, will fry your enemies to a crisp.
These hyper electric towers need to zap and kill 300 of your foes to earn you the achievement.Entangled - to get this achievement, you need to wrap up 500 enemies with the Wrath of the Forest ability that those giant ranger tree-towers have. The best way to get this is to scatter the towers along your formation.
This is because Wrath is an area of effect ability and it is best used in clumps of enemies instead of just targeting a couple of stragglers.Beam Me Up Scotty - is that a Star Trek reference in a tower defense game? Yes it is, and it does exactly what it alludes to: warping enemies from one spot of the map to another. The teleport ability of the mage tower will send enemies back to a random spot in the map that is farther away from the exit compared to their spot where the mage tower caught them.
Basically, this ability allows you to send back high powered enemies who managed to get past your defensive gauntlet. You will need to hit 250 enemies with this ability to earn the achievement.Shepherd - when it was used in Warcraft II, polymorph was a pretty great spell when it came to handling really powerful enemies that are too difficult to deal with. What it does is turn them into sheep. In Kingdom Rush, the spell remains the same: when cast on any enemy, it turns them into sheep.
As one would expect, the skill is cast by mage towers. Once you turn 50 enemies into sheep, the achievement is all yours. Cumulative Achievements - AbilitiesKingdom Rush has plenty of abilities that will help you deal with enemies in various ways. While they may or may not kill your targets, they will also provide a positive degree of help for your game. This is a list of all the achievements earned by using the various side abilities that you and your towers have.Armaggedon - use the rain of fire spell at least 5 times in a single stage. This is easy enough, since you will be using this spell quite a lot in the later stages when the cooldown time is much faster. Of course, increasing the spell's range and damage will also encourage you to rely on it more.Rocketeer - once your mortars are able to shoot homing missiles, be sure to invest the money to do so.
Missiles will home in on targets and if the current one is killed, it will find a new target of its own. To get the related trophy, you do not even need any kills; just fire out 100 missiles and you will be awarded immediately.Clustered - the cluster bomb upgrade allows you to have a much larger impact zone by dividing a single shell into small bomblets that will spread plenty of damage over an area. Since you will need to blow up 1000 bomblets, we suggest going for this achievement whenever you have the chance to do.Elementalist - much like the polymorph spell, the summon elemental ability sacrifices the hard hitting powers of disintegrate and teleport for a more support stance on the combat field. Elementals tend to make great enemy blockers if you can manage to isolate the tougher foes.
Anyway, this achievement will require you to summon 5 elementals in a single stage. It is not that hard, if you have them ready early on and have the elemental actively fighting enemies every wave.Axe Rain - you are most likely to get this trophy when aiming for the 10 kills by a single barbarian. Basically, all you need is to have your barbarian make use of their throw axe ability for 500 times. It will take a while, but you will certainly get there as long as you summon these brawny fighters as often as you can.Medic - heal 7,000 hit points worth of life with Paladins. Once you upgrade your barracks enough, the paladins will learn to provide healing to any allies on the field. With really strong enemies in the later maps, this spell becomes a critical factor in any arsenal.
Keep on providing healing support for your barbarians and other paladins and you will easily get this.Holy Chorus - cast holy strike 100 times. The undead are in for a bashing with this one. As long as you have paladins in your defensive line and the Holy Strike Spell is already researched, expect to get this trophy without much effort. It may take you a few stage to achieve the needed volume, but it is nothing to be concerned about.G.I.
Joe - easy, but still takes a while. This trophy requires you to train 1000 soldiers. This means that when a unit dies and a new replaces it -that counts.
Reaching up to 1000 will take more than a single playthrough if you skip out on repeating stages or playing through the extra map modes.Tactician - all you need to do here is to set the barracks rally point for 200 times. So as long as you keep changing the rally point, it counts. If you are really fast with the mouse and are able to micro manage without much focus, you could manage to get this in a single map if you wanted to.Die Hard - regenerating health is not going to be easy if your units get swarmed a lot and die from injuries. But once you start upgrading the barracks and your army gets a whole lot tougher, earning this achievement becomes easier. Here, you need to regenerate a total of 50,000 hit points.
Simply keep your troops alive and any damage they recover is counted to this number.Cannon Fodder - lose 1000 soldiers. Obviously, you will be earning the G.I.
Joe achievement before you even get this one. And once you do, it will not be too long before you earn this.or.
